Angela C. Roth McIntosh

Born and raised in the Okanagan valley of British Columbia, Canada, Angie attended the University of British Columbia and graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology in 1980. In 1981, pursuing her original life long dream to become a medical doctor, she entered the Faculty of Medicine at UBC. However she left in 1983, after having been reintroduced to her interest in art while in attendance with patients at an art as therapy session during the rural doctor's elective program at the Regional Hospital in Penticton.

McIntosh travelled to mainland China in 1987 for 3 months to study painting with renowned artists from the Central Institute of Fine Arts in Beijing. There, under the tutelage of Yang Fe Yei and Professor Wang, made only possibly by the assistance and wonderful translations by Chinese auther Tommy Wu, Angie had her eyes first opened up to the visions of an artist. She returned home to work and study and in 1989, after marrying her husband, physician Rob McIntosh, and just weeks before giving birth to her first child, Angie had her first successful solo show. She has since had many solo showings in the Okanagan at Leir House the local community arts center where she has maintained a studio for 14 years, Three Mile House Restaurant, and the Crowsnest Winery in Cawston. She opened her own home gallery when she lived in Naramata, and participated in many local group showings. Her works hang in collections in Canada, Hawaii, and Europe and in the corporate collection of KPMG in Penticton.

Angie has enjoyed working on detailed paintings of a variety of subjects from teddybears, boats, and flowerpots to buildings. However, Angie finds that the real life visions of tropical beaches, dazzling flower pots, and stucco houses seen in North America and China, and recently to southern France and Mexico, give the best colors and greatest details and so she ventures to these areas to paint. Even locally when weather has not been favorable, Angie has been spotted in her car with paintbrush in hand. Many of her loveliest works were painted right on location.

While continuing to paint, working on an entirely plant based cookbook, volunteering at her childrens' school, and travelling around the world to paint and organize art tours, Angie lives a busy life with husband Rob, two children, Kelsey and Kieran, and their children's pet fish and family of gerbils. Angie and her family enjoy spending winter weekends ski-ing at near-by Apex Mountain, and in the summer love to relax at their home on Skaha Lake in Penticton.
